Vegueta is the heartof the capital city and most iconic image of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and its diversity. To stroll around Vegueta is to take a journey back in time . There are many fine examples of traditional architecture, private courtyards blooming with plants, pedestrian squares, wooden balconies , cobbed streets , and museums that provide the perfect excuse to leave the beach for a while. Vegueta is my favorite place in gran canaria it's such a lovely place and the market in Vegueta is just spectacular with all kinds of locally grown fruits , vegetables, spices , herbs and more a must visit .

The municipality of Teror is located right in the middle of the island. It's historic center is one of the most spectacular in Gran Canaria , with legendary pedestrian streets, houses with wooden balconies, cast iron, balustrades and tiles the round off the facades of traditional Canariaian architecture, full of color and harmony. As for the local cuisine , the famous Teror chorizo is well worth trying for all you meat lovers .
The basilica of El Pino is the most blematic monument in Villa de Teror. It dates back to 1760 and is home to the carving of the Virgin of El Pino , the patron Saint of the diocese of the canary Islands. The basilicais located in the main square of the village, Plaza del Pino . A must visit !

Arucas is a lovely little village definitely worth the trip . The cathedral in the middle of the old part of town is just spectacular. Lots of little shops and cafes near . Great lazy day of exploring Gran Canaria .

Playa Canteras is also a wonderful place for all you foodies the restaurants along the prominod are endless with choices to fit anyone's taste . Love Playa Canteras spend much time here with friend for afternoon gatherings .

Lovely restaurant infront of the sea in Playa Arinaga they have fresh fish and shellfish in tanks in the front of the restaurant you may pick the one you like and they will prepare it for you does not get any fresher than that. One thing to keep in mind they close at 7:30 pm so it is a place for early dinner definitely a place to give a try. This is not a cheap place !

This is one of three SPAR food shops we have in town by far the best one they also have a butcher on sight and a little bakery as you walk in the shop many more selections of things that the other Spars in town don't have definitely worth checking out . The best ice cream section from all the shops in town for all you ice cream lovers .

My go to butcher in town the staff is very nice and very helpful. They have a nice little vegetable section that is also nice . There is a fish market in house but I buy all my fish at the fish market in arinaga which I have listed here in my guide book .

For all you diving lovers this school is located in town and is very popular on the island people come from all over the island to become certified divers if this is something you have been thinking about doing definitely go pay them a visit . The staff is lovely and kind .

A visit to Tejeda is essential for those who wish to learn about the islands rich archeological heritage. A must visit considered one of the most beautiful villages in all of Spain . The views are Spectacular. This is a wonderful day trip . Many sweet little cafes and restaurants and wonderful bakery where just about everything they make is from almonds . It is the oldest bakery in town .
