Moderately difficult hike that is so worth the effort. The hike to the lakes is family friendly. If you are really adventurous, you can hike to Upper Stevens Lake, scramble to Stevens Peak, descend to Lone Lake and hike out Lone Lake trail to the parking lot. This is a 10+ mile loop and very difficult. Not for young children or the faint of heart. My wife and I are avid outdoorsman and it took us 6 hours. Several areas of bear crawling up the hillside and bushwhacking. No trail beyond the upper lake. Either a good sense of direction or GPS and good physical health a must.
