This may be a hole in the wall but it's got the best Japanese food ANYWHERE in town! They don't take reservations unless you're a party of 8 or more but it's worth the wait.

Bok Bar is a rooftop bar on top of the Bok Building in South Philly and they have one of the best views in the city. Unfortunately, they’re only open during the summer (late April to late September), but it’s worth planning a day out here. They don’t take reservations and once the weather warms up, there’ll definitely be a line, but this is one of the few times when it’s actually worth the wait. They’ve got a nice selection of wine and beer and it’s great for a chill evening of snacking and drinking. The food options are limited to light bites, like fries or falafel wraps, so come before dinner on East Passyunk or for a nightcap after a taco tour in the neighborhood.

Museums

The College of Physicians of Philadelphia is one of the finest medical history museums in America. The Mütter Museum is a 19th century style cabinet museum displaying medical artifacts such as anatomical specimens and medical instruments. Marvel at the beauty and strangeness of the human body.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the city's most important cultural attractions. In fact, this museum is one of the most celebrated art museums in the country. Its collection of masters is one of the largest outside of Paris. Aside from Western Art and modern American art, the museum also features an outstanding collection of Asian art. Oh - and you can run up the steps like Rocky Balboa!!!

Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious lawbreakers, including "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.

The market is nothing short of a historic treasure, and a food heaven to Philadelphians and visitors alike. One floor beneath the former Reading Railroad's 1891 train shed, the sprawling market has more than 75 food stalls and other shops, selling items from hooked rugs and handmade jewelry to South American and African crafts. Here, amid the local color, you can sample Bassett's ice cream, Philadelphia's best; down a cheesesteak, a hoagie, a bowl of snapper soup, or a soft pretzel; or nibble Greek, Mexican, Thai, and Indian specialties. From Wednesday through Saturday the Amish from Lancaster County cart in their goodies, including Lebanon bologna, shoofly pie, and scrapple. Many stalls have their own counters with seating; there's also a central eating area. An open kitchen offers regular demonstrations by some of the region's top chefs. You can also take a guided Market Tour on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 am. The entire building is a National Historic Landmark, and the train shed is a National Engineering Landmark. The market is easily accessible by SEPTA's Blue Line subway, regional rail, and bus.

Parking is NOT fun!

There's a reason Parking Wars takes place in Philly. There is free parking on the block of P'unk Haus, but if you don't get anything there you're restricted to two hour parking in the neighborhood or finding a garage. Getting around Philly is easy - take the bus (SEPTA) or download the CURB app - it'll call you a cab and is significantly cheaper than Uber or Lyft. There's a subway as well that links up S Philly to Fishtown/E Kensington - google is your friend! Closest bus line is here: 8th & Wharton Street 47 and 47M Buses
