Benalmádena is situated on the Costa del Sol and lies between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. Benalmádena is a very vibrant town, with lots to offer for people of all ages. It is situated on the side of the Sierra de Mijas by the Autovía de Mediterráneo, and just 20 kilometres away from Málaga Centre. There are also train and bus links to the town from Malaga, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, etc. The climate is mild, varying between a minimum winter temperature of 5 degrees and 35 in summer. Over the past twenty years Benalmádena has become one of the key tourism centres on the Costa Del Sol, tripling its off-season population of 30,000 inhabitants in the summer period.
Benalmádena is a municipality in the province of Malaga consisting of three main areas: Benalmádena Pueblo, Benalmádena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel.
Benalmádena Pueblo
Benalmádena Pueblo is a typical Spanish White Village also known as the Old Village, there are lots of little quaint streets and tucked away shops, bars and restaurants, offering a relaxed atmosphere and an insight into the Spanish way of life! It’s location also gives exceptionally easy access to all of the Costa’s local attractions.
The Pueblo is the town's historical centre. At 241 meters above sea level and 2.7 kilometres from the coast, the old centre maintains the tradition and charm of Andalusian mountain villages.
Benalmádena Costa
Benalmádena Costa spans along the district with almost 9 kilometres of clean and well taken care of beaches, equipped with a variety of all kinds of services. The fine sands alternate between lively beaches and small intimate coves which may be enjoyed throughout the whole year, thanks to the climate of this area. A modern marina with more than a thousand mooring points and an impeccable range of services, delights visitors who come to the town every year.
Arroyo de la Miel
The picturesque town of Arroyo de la Miel is situated between Benalmádena Pueblo and Benalmádena Costa. This lively town is full of winding backs streets and pretty plazas that adhere to the old village way of life. It is one of the most popular destinations for tourists and also has a large British expat community. The town offers every type of bar and restaurant imaginable and visitors can enjoy traditional Andalusian tapas, avant-garde cuisine and high-street coffee houses, especially in the pedestrianized Calle Blas Infante. One of the most popular tourist destinations is the secluded Plaza de España, a delightfully tranquil square that is entered through the 18th century Portal de San Carlos, which bears the coat of arms of the town's founder, Felix Solesio.

Previously, a tiny fishing village, Fuengirola has become a vibrant metropolis with character. The advent of many up-market tapa bars, good cafes and restaurants, interspersed with chic boutiques and other shops of interest, as well as fabulous beaches makes it the perfect holiday destination.
The main square, Plaza de la Constitución, has been re-designed but still retains its unique enchantment. It looks pretty especially at Christmas, when it is decorated with very attractive lights and ornaments. It is also attractive during the Fuengirola feria, when the whole town takes part in the annual street celebrations. A walk down the narrow, pedestrian streets leading off the main square is a voyage of discovery for the many visitors, who come across some of the hidden secrets and delightful corners of this friendly, Andalucian town.
Fuengirola is probably most famous for its five miles (7km) stretch of sandy beaches, beginning at the Sohail Castle and ending at Torreblanca. The promenade, oficially called Paseo Maritimo Rey de España, is characterised by its wide promenade with high-rise hotels and residential blocks of apartments and magnificent views of the Mediterranean coastline.
All along the beach and the sea front, you will find every kind of water sports and seaside amenities. The water sports areas are segregated from the bathers, head for the Marina office if you want to book a motorboat, water-ski or parasail. There are excellent 'chiringuitos' (beach bars / restaurants), where fresh fish and seafood are usually the stars of the menu, and other restaurants, representing foods around the world.
In high season (June to September) the whole length of the beach has 'hamacas' (beach beds) and parasols for hire at daily charge of around 12 euros (for two beach beds and 1 parasol). There is usually a sign up on the beach, with the price clearly marked.
