Having a drink.

Located on the site of the Liefmans brewery ODNAR is a cozy place in an authentic setting. The terrace is located next to the water. Inside ODNAR is the perfect mix between a warm pub and a hip, young meeting place. In ODNAR, authenticity, honest products and being together are central. Share a plate, share a glass and share the experience! ONLY OPEN IN THE WEEKENDS

Martiko is located on the market square. It has the feeling of an old cozy bar. They have amazing food (you might need a reservation) but you can go for a drink in their beautiful inside patio. If you can grab a table upstairs on the window: it is the best view to the central square and city hall in the whole of Oudenaarde.

Old fasioned café-bar on the market square in an ancient brick-gabled building in the shadow of the Saint-Walburg church. My personal favorite.

If you appreciate Belgian cuisine, come to Paulette. The restaurant has an amazing cozy interior and the service displays a high level of quality. The food is very good. You might need a reservation, especially in the weekend. A local favorite. It is located at the central "plaza" of the small municipality Ename. Ename has a lot of charm and a lot of hikes start here.

The museum informs visitors about the Tour, but you will also relive Flanders' Most Beautiful all year round. We make use of this exhibitions, active cycling experience with bicycle rental and several facilities before, during and after your bike ride. You can also just go in to see the shop, if you want a souvenir: this is where you get your fun t-shirt.

Oudenaarde, starting point for further exploration through the Flemish Ardennes, 1000 years of history among waving hills. The MOU - brings that history to life. Through interactive media and special historic pieces, you travel through time, from the Dark Ages till today. The MOU is located in one of the most beautiful city halls of Belgium, centrally on the market place of Oudenaarde. It takes up the oldest part, the 14th century clothmakers’halls, symbolizing the glorious textile history of Oudenaarde.

Bezienswaardigheden

Make sure to walk trough this hidden gem. Small but beautiful beguinage. Entrance is free. The red Baroque gate on Achterburg is impressive, although the view is somewhat spoiled by the hideous contemporary building to the left. In a niche at the top there is a traditional representation of Saint Roch in pilgrim’s garb (hat, cloak, knapsack and staff) lifting his tunic to show a plague sore on his thigh, a dog carrying a loaf in its mouth sitting at his side. Legend has it that Saint Roch caught the plague while attending to plague victims and was saved by a dog who licked his wounds and brought him bread. The gate leads to the first of two atmospheric planted courtyards with a very simple whitewashed chapel in the corner. Close to the wall of the beguinage stands the much smaller chapel of Our Lady of Seven Dolours in Gothic Revival style. Although this beguinage doesn’t have any remarkable old houses – most date from the 19th and 20th century – it still feels like a lovely nostalgic place.

Oudenaarde has two major old churches, one on the left bank of the River Scheldt – Saint Walburga - and one on the right bank, Our Lady of Pamele. Our Lady Pamele is the smallest but the prettiest if you ask me!

Liedspark is a beautiful park to walk trough. Make sure to walk past the allotment gardens in the corner of the park. Locals have tiny gardens there and in their free times are busy harvesting fruit and vegetables. The Liedtspark is the home of the Liedtscastle. Just so you know: it is not possible to visit it inside. And it is not the castle you have in mind.

Koppenberg (literally "Heads Mountain") is a 77 m (253 ft) high hill in Oudenaarde, the Flemish Ardennes, Belgium. "Koppen" is an abbreviation for cobblestones. This climb is part of the route of the Tour of Flanders professional cycling race and feared by many because of its steepness (22% on the trickiest parts) and because of its cobblestones. This makes the Koppenberg difficult even for top professionals. It is worth checking it out and the view from up the hill is amazing. There is a bench there: take something to eat or drink and have a pic-nic there if you can!
