A magical position overlooking Porthminster Beach just below the revamped Tate with brilliant views creates an amazing setting for this beloved modern hut/café. As one of Cornwall’s better-known eateries, it’s almost always worth reserving, but if you can’t get a reservation then the fish and chips from their takeaway downstairs is almost as good.

When we first moved to Cornwall we owned 2 Fore Street for several years before we left Mousehole for Marazion. We passed 2 Fore Street into the capable hands of Joe Wardell who has made it what it is today. With his varied and interesting menu of delicious local produce, Raymond Blanc-trained chef Joe knows how to totally blow you away at his Harbourside cottage restaurant. Given the setting, a stones throw away from the quay, it’s no surprise to find an innovative fish heavy menu which changes weekly. Reserve a seat in the window for a sea view, or out in the garden for an alfresco experience.

Bruce Rennie is a wizard with fish, which is fresh from day boats in nearby Newlyn and not to be missed at his small, modern bistro. They now currently offers a set taster-style menu, but it is not to be missed. Well worth a visit, but booking is essential.

Named after the west Cornwall promontory it’s located on, this lovely, cosy pub, on the road between St Ives and Land’s End is one of the county’s best known, and is worth travelling to the end of the UK for. The kitchen features locally sourced ingredients, including seafood, while staff take pride in the restaurant and hotel.

Sightseeing

The beach here is truly stunning my favourite in Cornwall with turquoise water. Also its home to the Minack theatre definitlely worth a visit. you can watch a show or just visit and have a coffee and see how the theatre was built by a woman called Rowena Cade in the cliffs there in the 1930s, its a remarkable story and there is a little cinema there where you can watch old slides showing you how it was completed.

This is where we moved to initially when moved to Cornwall. Dylan Thomas named it the prettiest village in Cornwall and I do agree lots of quaint granite cottages set around the harbour. There are 2 very good restaurants, the first being 2 fore st which we used to own and the Coastguards Hotel. also a few little gift shops. The local pub is The Ship again one of my husbands favourites and they serve good pub food, with daily specials and a traditional menu.

St Ives is the busiest resort with some of the best beaches they are truly Caribbean style. there are 3 beaches the Porthminster is my favourite, but Porthmeor and Porthwidden are just as nice and all have great beach bars. The Portminster Beach Cafe is my favourite restaurant in Cornwall. There abundance of restaurants in St Ives and you will be spoiled for choice, my main advice is book early. Shops - There are some great little boutique shops there Ladies love St Ives... Gallerys - There are lots with The Tate being the most famous and definitely worth a visit and there is a nice cafe inside for a spot of lunch.

The Isles of Scilly lie just off the coast of Cornwall but are a world apart in every way. A natural wonder, like a cluster of precious ocean jewels. Everything looks and feels quite different on Scilly - simpler, kinder, more innocent. Life moves at an easier pace. Perfect for a day trip, you can reach the Scilly's via ferry or helicopter from Penzance.

Situated on the opposite side of St Ives Bay, Hayle is famed for it's 'three miles of golden sand'. The beaches start at the mouth of the estuary, regarded as an international quality bird-watching spot. Following the cresent of the beach brings you to the first lifeguard patroled beach - Hayle Towans. Slightly more sheltered from the Atlantic waves and at nearly 2 miles long there's plenty of room for the whole family. Next is Gwithian, popular with both locals and holiday makers. This is one of the most popular surfing beaches in the area and holds a decent sized swell. The Hayle sands end with Godrevey Point with the lighthouse on an island about 50 metre out to sea. The point is national trust owned as is the car park.

This is a little fishing port just 8 miles from Marazion. a great place for a visit with lots of restaurants and there are markets held most days during the summer months. There are also lots of gift shops and galleries, plus plenty of spots to enjoy a traditional Cornish pasty. It also still has a very old Cornish pub called the Ship and you will often find fisherman in there talking about the catch of the day, this is one my husbands favourite pub, they also serve good pub grub.

The largest nearby town, Penzance has a traditional high street, and the only promenade in Cornwall. In Penzance you'll find banks, phone shops, bars, a cinema, restaurants and high street shops. The Jubilee Pool is also a highlight, but must be booked in advance.
