It is usually VERY popular so expect to see quite a few people on the trail, but despite the number of people it's still very quiet and enjoyable as large groups and/or families/children don't frequent this trail as much.

While most people in Portland tend to stick to the trails on the Oregon side of the river, our tie for favorite hike in the Gorge goes to Wind Mountain on the Washington side. This trail is just super atmospheric and beautiful, and it used to be a Native American Spirit Quest trail. Incredibly serene, low traffic, a good leg workout and elevation gain over a short distance, and after the huffing and puffing to the top you're greeted with one of the most spectacular views of any hikes in the Gorge.
