If you don't make it to Galapagos during your time in Ecuador, a day trip to Isla de la Plata is definitely worth your while! You can see blue footed boobies (a famed Galapagos bird species) and, depending upon the time of year, will often see whales, dolphins m, and other wildlife.

I love to spend a day there surfing, having a nice meal at Fish House with a sunset view, or enjoying coffee and a pastry at The Barn. Ayampe is a sleepy town with dirt paths among the houses that are lined with tropical plants. Andreita at Mauli Spa is an amazing massage & reiki therapist, and her spa has all sorts of services plus a jacuzzi!
