If your visiting Hamilton, the Hamilton gardens are a must see tourist attraction. Currently free too :) I recommend at least two hours here

Do you like the beach? If you have access to a car, a drive out to Raglan takes just 35 mins from my home and is a lovely place to visit. The beach is a typically west coast beach with black sand and a good surf break. In Raglan town you will find many cute botique shops to satisfy your shopping craving and when you get hungry there are many cafes and restaurants to choose from.
You will find the best fish and chips at Jo's close to the camping ground with easy access to the beach after.

Walk alongside the Waihou River, through wetlands, across rolling pastoral land & features views of small waterfalls, native bush & the famous Blue Spring with glimpses of trout along the way
