Sightseeing
If you are here in Winter, you have most likely come for the skiing and snowboarding. The gate to Mt Buller is a short 15minute drive away. You can park your car here and get a bus up the mountain. During these winter months you will likely need wheel chains to access Mt Buller – these can be hired from the Mirimbah Store at the resort gate. If you have low profile tyres you will need to hire chains from the Merrijig Motor Inn.
There are also plenty of equipment hire stores in Mansfield but if you would like to avoid the crowds, head to the Sebel Ski and Equipment hire in Merrijig (10 min away).
During the warmer months the region is known for its hiking trails, bike trails, fishing and swimming in the Delatite River, boating on Lake Eildon, horse riding, 4 wheel driving.

For an afternoon well spent, take a 20 min drive to Mirimbah Park. The park is bordered by the shallow flowing waters of Delatite River. We love splashing amongst the rock pools in the river. An idyllic place to cool off after a warm day.

High atop Mt Stirling, around 51 kilometres from Mansfield, the hut was originally constructed as the set for the 1982 film The Man from Snowy River. Bushfires ravaged it in 2006 but it was rebuilt and reopened to public visits two years later. Arrive by 4WD or following the 1.2 kilometre walking track from the Day Visitor Area to be wowed by panoramic, celluloid-worthy views.
