Great food/drink + nice river views. Sometimes there is a wait on the weekends, but you are welcome to get drinks from the bar and lounge on the dock by the water while you wait.

This spot may sound a little cheesy, but we really love going here on occasion even as locals! It’s more like a zoo/estuary than a tourist trap. In late Spring/early summer you can see tropical birds nesting very up close :) Great for adults and kids alike. They have playground areas and shows for kids, but also have decent locals beers and plenty of sights for adults as well.

One of our most famous attractions, and it’s well worth a visit. You can walk the border for free, or pay a small entrance fee to see inside the various rooms of the fort. It is interesting to learn about the history inside and even view old paintings and “graffiti” dating back to the 1700s!
The lawn is also a great picnic spot if you’re inclined to take your food to go and enjoy the scenery :)

Small entrance fee but this is across the street from the Madeira bungalow and *always* has easy, dedicated parking right along the beach.

Also known as the “Taco Shop” this is a great, casual spot to walk to from St Augustine beach still in your bathing suit. Outdoor picnic tables and lots of food options. My personal favorite is any of the Kung Fu Taco’s “Baja Style”. Also they have great homemade chips + salsa.
