Local Beaches
Sandymouth Bay Beach
A gorgeous National Trust beach, just 20 minute from Little Acorn and Southcott Bungalow (by car). When the tide is out, the fantastic sandy beach is exposed and it is often much quieter than the other main beaches of Bude.
Popular with both families and surfers and is set against a dramatic back-drop of sheer cliffs. The beach is just a short walk down from the National Trust car park, where you will also find toilets and a café with seasonal opening times.
At low tide you can walk the 2 miles from Sandymouth Beach to Crooklets along the beach; you may see a shipwreck buried in the sand and look out for the honeycomb structures of the sandcastle worm.
The car park is chargeable and manned by the National Trust. Out of season there is an honesty box for parking payments.
Swimming is only safe between the red and yellow flags.

Summerleaze Beach
Summerleaze CrescentBude’s best-loved and Seaside Award winning beach. Summerleaze is home to the famous Bude Sea Pool, large expanse of sand, gorgeous views and beach huts for daily hire. The small harbour with fishing boats make is popular with people of all ages. Rock pooling is great fun around the harbour and Breakwater. There is a large car park, a beach cafe/bistro and many more within a few minutes’ walk. Located just off the town centre, this beach is easy to reach on foot.
Just north of Bude, Duckpool Beach is loved by many for its wild and remote setting, this is a beautiful and quiet cove at the bottom of the Coombe Valley. Duckpool Bay
Just north of Bude, Duckpool Beach is loved by many for its wild and remote setting, this is a beautiful and quiet cove at the bottom of the Coombe Valley. Children will love the wide-open space and the large rock pools will keep them happy for hours. There are large pebbles at the entrance to the beach, but you’ll be rewarded by an expanse of sand at low tide.

On land an extensive network of footpaths and cycle trails provide access to different areas around the lake including a walk and cycle route across the dam to the Activity Centre, which also offers a great lakeside campsite. A short walk from the café and venue, features to explore include a cob shelter and 6 metre tall steel sundial, created as a gift from Devon to Her Majesty the Queen for her Diamond Jubilee, while further afield you’ll find woodland walks and a bird hide.
