Carvers Gap Trailhead

If you are lucky you can enjoy seasonal huckleberries along the path. A must-do hike if you are in Roan Mountain. A great sunrise view as well if you can wake up in time!
Drive up Cove Creek Road to Hughes Road, where you will find a small pull-off parking area for day-hikers. Hughes Gap Trail is named after the Hughes family; who are one of the original families of Cove Creek (many still are our neighbors). Enjoy hiking down and over to Panther Branch Trail back towards our Cottage on the Doe, or on the otherside of Hughes Road, you can hike to Carvers Gap. Information is readily found on internet searches. This is part of the AT and well marked with the white trail blazes.
