Set on a hill in Arundel town centre, the Castle makes an impressive sight. The Medieval castle has been added to and extended over the centuries. The gardens are also gorgeous. If you're lucky enough to be visiting in the spring time you'll witness the bulb festival. You need to allow a couple of hours for a visit. At the moment pre-booking is essential. A family favourite, this compact park, a short walk from the east end of Bognor High Street is a little haven. With lots of shade and woodland to run around in, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or slice of cake in the lovely cafe with big windows and lots outside space, play adventure golf, or ride the mini-railway (usually operating through-out July and August) it circles the park, great for little ones. Look out for the wooden carvings of Alice and her friends. And on a Saturday morning it hosts the Bognor Park Run (when they come back).

Littlehampton is a seaside town which has an attractive location at the mouth of the River Arun. The gentle shelving beach, selection of fish and chip shops, amusements and rides, as well as crabbing on the river, make it a popular place for families. There are a couple of small shops in the town centre - including a small Sainsbury's.

The butt of many a joke, Bognor's reputation hasn't always been glowing. However some recently opened independent businesses and the fact it's often the sunniest town in England mean it shouldn't always be over-looked. Its wide promenade, gentle shelving beach, mini-golf and ice-cream parlours, 100 year old cinema and a couple of tasty restaurants, make a stop-off worthwhile.

From Climping Street there are three footpaths which head east across the fields (one opposite Bailiffscourt Hotel, one just North of the Black Horse pub, in front of the cottages, one near the old Blacksmiths). These paths can take on a simple loop, taking in the beach. You can walk from the house (note there is no pavement between us or The Oystercatcher, there's a non-paved path behind the hedge next to the field opposite, but this doesn't quite get you all the way to the Oystercatcher) or parking is available near the school or at the beach end of Climping Street (though this is restricted during the summer months).

Beaches

Climping Beach is an undeveloped stretch of beach - with just a car park, small kiosk and toilets - it's beauty its a bit quieter and feels a little wilder. You'll need to go elsewhere if you want typical seaside entertainment. Like most of the local beaches it's gently shelving, with shingle at the top. Check the tide-times before you head down (high tide gives you deep water and no sand, low tide gives you a long walk to get deep water, but lots of sand – somewhere in between is best).
