Food scene

Chuku's is a fun and upbeat Nigerian tapas restaurant based in the heart of Seven Sisters, a 20min walk from our home in Tottenham. Food is not available for take out and it's best to book in advance to secure yourself a table. Chuku's is the first restaurant of it's kind and perfectly reflects the diversity you will find in the borough of Tottenham. Understandably, it's very popular so be sure to call with plenty of notice.

Our favourite pizza joint, a short walking distance from Seven Sisters station or 20 minute bus journey from our home in Tottenham. Based on an old Victorian pub, they showcase beers crafted by the finest independent London breweries in Tottenham and beyond. They also offer great tasting Gluten free pizza! Take outs are possible but we recommend heading in to avoid expensive delivery fees and to enjoy their laid back vibes!

Blighty is a cafe found in Seven Sisters, they offer great English breakfasts and my favourite hot chocolate with vegan and vegetarian options too. It's a great place to grab a bite to eat before heading off into central London.

Tottenham is fast becoming one of London’s best beer boroughs, being home to several established breweries. All have taprooms that either open at the weekends or coincide with when a Tottenham Hotspur home game on. One of the nicer brewery set-ups, Pressure Drop brewery opens up its Tottenham taproom every Friday night and Saturday, serving around 10 of their own lines. Most weekends, they have a guest pop up food-stall too.

Sightseeing

If you happen to visit our area during match season, you may notice the peaceful crowds heading towards Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. As well as football, these grounds also plays host to several NFL UK games every year. The football club offers a tour of the grounds and changing rooms, as well as a 50metre high skywalk and an activity called The Edge, a slow descent down the side of the stadium. After your experience, you can enjoy a Beavertown craft beer or prosecco from the viewing platform. A uniquely Tottenham experience!

Walthamstow Wetlands are a 20min walk from our home and is Europe’s largest urban wetland. Comprising of several huge interlinking reservoirs with pathways all around, this 211 hectare site is home to an abundance of wildlife. It still provides much of London’s drinking water and is the city’s largest fishery – small wonder birds from all over the world flock here! The former Engine House building dates from Victorian times and is now a visitor centre and cafe (which has an outdoor seating area which looks over the boardwalks). Admission to Walthamstow Wetlands is free and they have wildlife related events on most weekends. After a hearty walk, enjoy the Ferry Boat Inn for great pub food and drinks.

Epping Forest is the largest open space in the London area at just over 6,000 acres. It is a 45min journey from Tottenham Hale station and is free to enter. Epping Forest is home to 55,000 ancient trees, more than any other single site in the country. Some are centuries old and may have been growing there since Anglo-Saxon times representing some of the oldest living plants in Europe, irreplaceable and rare. This is one of our favourite places to spend the day if needing a break from the city's hustle and bustle. We recommend you take a packed lunch. Although there is a cafe on site, it can have long queues and be expensive. Great for a cake slice but you'll appreciate having food with you!
