Sightseeing
Scenic Highway of Legends, State Highway 12. Travel from Trinidad westward along Highway 12 toward the mountains. and back to Trinidad. Through Walsenberg. You can take this beautiful drive and stop along the way at Stonewall, Monument Lake, Blue Lake, National Forest accesses and the town of LaVeta. This may take between 4 hours to all day depending how you want to see the areas. I have the booklets in the room so u can take along and understand the history and sites. You may pack a lunch or stop at various eating locations that are available (some are seasonal only). Please make sure you have 4 wheel drive if you decide to take a dirt road for a long period of time. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

The historic St. James Hotel is still decorated as if you were in the old outlaw west. It has a outlaw history, supposedly haunted, with a full restaurant and antique bar. Just a short drive to southwest Cimmarron, New Mexico from Trinidad.

A great park to visit and explore. Informative visitor center and a great place to hike, site see and view beautiful vistas or just walk barefoot in the sand dunes spring waters. Hot springs and a unique alligator farm are also located in this valley.
