My favorite restaurants and microbreweries in the local area

These are some of my favorite places to dine locally. Parkersburg has all the usual casual dining chain restaurants and fast food options. These are truly local places. Due to the pandemic, some of them may have changed their days and hours, or have transitioned to take out/delivery only so it would be wise to call before going there.
The baklava is to die for—possibly the best I’ve ever eaten anywhere. If you are looking for mideastern inspired food...or for a place with lots of vegan options and healthy dining choices, this is the place.

This is the place to go for some down home cookin’! The yeast dinner rolls are just like grandma used to bake, and a meal all by themselves. The food is great, the prices are inexpensive, and the place is usually packed to capacity at dinner time with the local crowd. They have dozens of kinds of pie too!

Great coffee and coffee inspired drinks as well as food. My personal fav is the Goldie Hawn—in any version of it! Food is good. Service can be on the slow side sometimes. Trivia nights are great fun.

The oldest tavern in West Virginia, and one of the oldest in the country. It’s local gathering spot—the closest thing in Parkersburg to a British pub. I don’t drink beer so I can’t comment of the quality of the brews. But the food is great and cheap, and the wait staff are amazing.

Great Italian food and pizza. Wonderful place to dine out with a group. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever tried here.

This is your only 24 hour dining option in Parkersburg, Vienna, Williamstown, Belpre, or Marietta, except for a few fast food drive thru places. I’m not saying the food is great, it’s just okay. The menu and prices are comparable to a Waffle House or Huddle House, and it attracts the same crowd. But when it’s 2 or 3 am, and you want a meal, this is it, folks. The cook is pretty good about fixing things off the menu (like pancakes) if you ask nicely and they aren’t jammed.

Kim’s recommendations on things to do locally

These are some of the favorite attractions in our area.
A fascinating and unique place. Henderson Hall was the home of a prominent local family who inhabited the same house for nearly 200 years. You could call them packrats—they seemingly never threw away anything. Thanks goodness they didn’t, because we now have trove of documents and artifacts that belonged to them. Unlike some historic homes that have little of the family’s original possessions in the house, this home is fully furnished with the family’s belongings. There is something here to interest everyone.
