Every single item required in a North Indian household can be found in this market. Best time to visit would be weekday mornings or afternoons. It's always busy in the evenings and throughout the weekend. It starts off at the clock tower and a police barrier restricting the entry of vehicles, then there is a paan (betel leaf) shop, followed by a shop selling ice-cream softies, then come the shoes and so on. You can find everything from vegetables, fruits, dry fruits, confectioneries, medicines, herbal products, bakeries, clothing, groceries, bangles, makeup, jewellery, cobbler, barber, tailor etc. When I say everything, I mean everything.

Parks & Nature
Malsi Deer Park is surrounded by a reserve forest and a chance to observe deer in their natural habitat in the foothills of the Himalayan mountain range - the Shivaliks. The park also has populations of two horned deer, Neelgai (Indian Antelope), peacocks and rabbits. Entrance is paid. It is closed on Mondays. Timings: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

We have had to supply their golden brown rusks to fans all over the country. Its not easy to find the shop but it is on google maps now so that should make things slightly easier. They are definitely worth the trip to the crowded marketplace where they are located. Some Dehradun old timers cannot have their morning cup of tea without the accompanying rusks.

Decades of memories associated with this place! Its plum cakes, butter biscuits and some snacks are to die for. Do try the cumin biscuits too. Its a narrow shop and will nearly always be full and it will always be a tight squeeze but the food is always worth it.
