the affordable michelin star dim sum restaurant from Hong Kong when you get there - they open at 10am but there is a wait so you need to tell the manager that you would like a table and then they text or call you yes it is five dollars per instead of $3.50 to $4.50 but you get twice as much beef in their steamed beef rice rolls basically an error free experience order more than you can eat and bring your own box to pack the leftovers home or ask the very nice staff if they have boxes for you DIY takeout

great roast pork buns
The original Manna House owner and baker is on the Bowery. I never go because it's too far for me when I can get egg tarts at Ho Won and roast pork buns at Manna House so close to the building. The chicken filling in their steamed bun is spot on. I like their variation on a fruit cake - a not too heavy butter pound cake with a sprinkling of citron.

Closes at 10pm so if you can't get there by 9:30pm, you are too late. VERY yummy and perfect. My family's favorite place these days and recommended by someone who has had everything on their menu at least once. They open at 11am but orders may not be ready before 11:30am. The staff and owners are really nice to strangers. And like all of the Vietnamese restaurants, treat everyone the same and give you the requisite bag of greens and lime. They're not racist like some restaurants to Chinese people and will never give you lettuce with your bulgogi or kalbi or give you less and the worst panchan than to other foreigners - even if they give non Chinese foreigners less than Koreans.

This is where I tell guests to go after Pasteur Grill closes at 10pm. HK Wonton stays open until 1am. They are old school Chinatown with a good broth for their wonton and real Chow Mein (not crunchy crackers) and hearty rice dishes. They used to be on Mott Street for many years until their landlord ended their lease and opened a bootleg version.

I don't care about the cronuts but this is an affordable luxury especially Downtown where the Fauchon chain doesn't venture. Everything is fresh and Parisians may find it to be nothing special but you can taste the freshness and appreciate the skill.

Oh no, what happened to its original location at 80 Thompson Street? I've only been there a few times but I could LEAP to their location from our building. Oh no. Who wants to go to Midtown. You want to go to that charmingly quiet and secluded side street in the middle of the bustle of super commercialized Soho. I like the Thompson chocolate. I never got to try the Creme Brulee. I was trying to find a replacement for my mother's memory of her first taste of chocolate as a child after she fell down the stairs and kept talking about the past. I wish Kee's was still downtown.

Got sued by their delivery guy but the new place whatever it is called now has great white rice underneath some tasty dishes - the ones tried so far have been salt and pepper fried squid over rice and ribs and pumpkin over rice. The price is around $7.

On the corner of LUdlow and Houston with lots of fancy retail around it most notably the Whole Foods supermarket on Bowery and Houston. The corned beef IS very flavorful and even better cut into hunks over white rice with gravy like Geng Seng on Pell Street used to sell on Fridays But if you mind fattiness - just a little - then pay a dollar more for the pastrami. One sandwich is enough for two people at $21 but it is also enough to split into six sandwiches if you bring it home and use steamed chinese coin purse buns from the Chinese supermarket (i prefer dung dung i..e. winter brand - just pick the bag with the same character twice). Also use cole slaw instead of a condiment in the sandw

pharmacy with copy machine, notary public, household essentials and cold sodas but most importantly, UPS packages for our building go to them if no one is there to sign. They kindly kept a bulky headboard for us for a few days because we did not realize where the delivery had gone.
