Everything Else

Argues Lake Drive through Arques from the direction Couiza. Follow sign on right just after the village. Large lake with lots of places to sit privately. More spacious and wild than Puivert. Picnic tables but no Buvette. In Arques village Arque Roc Café in the village is a nice stopping place with a shady garden at the back. Serves meals in the summer. The food market is in the Place by the river. It is very sweet with very genuine local produce from small producers in the hills. Organic farmed trout, Jersey cram flan, goats cheese and seasonal fruit and vegetables. The general market is in the big main square and sells clothes, second hand clothes, trinkets, baskets, sewing stuff, etc. Lunch outside the Palais by the river is very agreeable and good value.
