In Kaštel Sućurac stands the oldest defensive fortress built in 1392 by A. Gvaldo the Archbishop of Split.[3] to protect peasants from the settlement Putalj which was situated on the slopes of Kozjak, near the little church of St. Juraj. Additional building formed a settlement by the sea. Archbishop Averaldo built his summer residence in 1488, and castle gets its final form in 1509. The oldest center of Sućurac is Kaštilac, a yard of fortified palace – villa with the south wall opened by lavishly decorated windows in High Gothic style. Unlike other villages the square is here formed on the south side of the summer residence. Today, there is the exhibition room "Podvorje" , as part of the local Museum.

King Zvonimir in the year 1078 granted an estate in the Field of Kaštela to the convent of Benedictine nuns. A pre-Romanic church of St. Kuzma and Damjan was built there in the 12th century, over remains of an ancient necropolis and an early-Christian church (findings of early-Christian sarcophagi). The relics of St. Virgin Mary, St. Kuzma and Damjan, and the king Stephen of Hungay are kept there near a Roman villa rustica. An oak, over 700 years old, stands in front of the church, under which, according to the legend, Croatian king Zvonimir rested there once.

When you stand on the Peristyle in Split and touch its columns or the sphinx that guards them, it is an incredible realization that you are touching history that is thousands of years old. Even more incredible is the realization that there are living witnesses to the creation of that history. One of them is Stara maslina (Perišić's mastrinka) in Kaštel Štafilić. The age of this mute witness of ancient events is estimated at over 1,500 years (according to some, 1,700), which ranks it among the oldest in the world.*

Vitturi Castle was built by the aristocratic family Vitturi from Trogir, at the end of the 15th century.[1] Two noblemen from Trogir, Nikola and Jerolim Vitturi, built the castle in order to provide protection not only for the Vitturi family but also for the population of the nearby village of Ostrog. The castle was built in the style of a luxurious renaissance palace and it was completed in 1564. It consisted of a residential building and two defence towers and it was connected to the mainland with a drawbridge. In the 18th century the drawbridge was replaced with a stone bridge. Near the castle there is a classicistic park dating from the second half of the 18th century. The park was also designed by the Vitturi family. In 1968 it was proclaimed a monument of park architecture.

Historic City of Trogir is the old town of this wonderful Venetian-style town located in an island, near Split, in Dalmatian Coast. It is a fantastic town, where you can walk around on small streets, see the main square (or John Paul II Square), visit the Cathedral and go up to the bell tower, from where you can see the best views of the town. Also, you can see some important and very nice buildings, while you walk around the old town, see the sea and Kamerlengo Tower, from where you can also see very beautiful views of the city and the sea. Very recommendable!

The oldest fortress which was refurbished to become a seaside settlement is located in Kaštel Sućurac. It is the ideal destination for all those who desire a peaceful vacation, while the near vicinity of Split, the tourist metropolis of central Dalmatia, guarantees a wide variety of entertainment and many places for evenings our. While in Kaštel Sućurac, visit Split, Trogir and Makarska.

Only half an hour's drive from Split you can enjoy the picturesque nature, interesting tradition and delicious specialties: spend the day outdoors, at the source of a beautiful river. The entire area of the source of the Hornbeam and its upper course is protected as a significant landscape. The source of the river, only two kilometers long, is accessed by a path along the right bank, along the edge of which are a mill and a beautiful stone bridge. The path takes visitors through a short canyon and goes through white-hornbeam forests with some oak, willow and apple trees. The river fork soon after the source forks and forms a pond adorned by several small waterfalls. In addition to natural beauty, there are famous and protected picturesque Grabske mlinice, a favorite picnic spot and an interesting reminder of the ancient way of life. Some of the mills, among which there are over five hundred years old, are still in operation today. You can explore the gastronomic offers of the Trilj area, which include donuts, cheese from blackjack, frogs, crabs and trout, arambašići, rašćika and specialties under the baking lid, especially the young rooster, pulestar. You can try them in the nearby restaurant Naše malo misto in Grab, in the restaurant Čaporice with a view of the Cetina or in the restaurant Premijer, which also offers dishes spiced with honey, dates, almonds, figs and spices used by the ancient Romans during their stay in the Trilj area.

Between the villages of Nisko and Postinje Donjeg, in the heart of Dalmatian Zagora, there are Rajčica Wells. This hydrological locality, located in the natural depression of Niščanski Gaj, hides ten wells that surround a large puddle. Puddles and wells have been used for watering livestock since ancient times. Although such locations are not rare in Dalmatian Zagora, this locality was renovated a few years ago and put into the function of tourism, and as such it shined in its full glory. It is not known when exactly they were created. Some call them Roman wells, but it is more likely that they were created sometime during the Middle Ages.
