Piazza del Popolo (Popolo's square) and Pincio are just 25 minutes walking from my apartment (or 10 minutes by Underground). From the Belvedere of Pincio you can admire the wonderful panorama of the historic center. While walking there you can go through Via Cola di Rienzo and go shopping in the numerous shops of the street.

Le Guide ai Quartieri

My apartment is located in the Prati district, adjacent to the Vatican City and one of the most elegant in the town. The Historical Center is located beyond the Tiber River, while the Monti district is slightly further away (though just under one hour's walk). The popular district of Trastevere is just after the Vatican City.
Trastevere is the most famous district of Rome after the Historic Center. It's just 35 minutes walking from my apartment (about 20 minutes by bus nr. 23). I suggest you go there in the evening, before 9pm if you want to visit the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere. Here you can find small shops (often artisanal) and many bars and restaurants for cheap dining.

The heart of the Historic Center of Rome (Piazza Colonna) can be reached from my apartment with a 35-minute walk. If you prefer the underground, takes 10 minutes to the Flaminio Metro stop or 2 more minutes to the next stop Spain, which takes you directly to Piazza di Spagna.

The Monti district is not just the Colosseum district. Here you can discover many other treasures such as Micheelangelo's Moses, churches and fountains. It is one hour walking from my apartment or about 30 minutes by underrground (Cavour metro stop). I suggest you start the visit in the late afternoon, so that you can then stop for dinner in one of the many bars or restaurants in the neighborhood.

Rome is not a big city. Walking is the best way to visit it.

Usually when I go to visit a new city I prefer to move walking, because this allows me to learn more about the details. This is even more true for Rome, where it is possible to find a historical detail in any corner. If you walk past a church, you should lose 2 minutes to get in, you might find a fresco or a painting by a famous painter. Usually churches are open all day until evening.
Bago ka umalis

Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.

I suggest you book through their website a few weeks in advance, as soon as you have planned your trip to Rome.
