Silverdale village is just over a mile from Lakeside cottage. It is a pretty village with three pubs, two cafes, a Cooperative supermarket, Indian restaurant, cafe and shop. There is also a pebble beach which is good for walking and enjoying the sunsets. Careful parking on the beach or nearby road as I believe there are now parking charges.

Fabulous RSPB nature reserve within walking distance of the cottage. wonderful and knowledgeable staff, guide books and events. Lovely cafe and shop. Well worth a visit.

A short drive away is the lovely wildlife oasis with a wide range of animals, options to feed and meet the animals, a lovely cafe and shop. A great place to visit with the children or as an adult.

Arnside is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and supports many rare and beautiful butterflies and alpine plants around the limestone pavements.
There are lovely walks around the headland. Take care to check the tide times and stay away from the quick sand.
