You can spot the platypus just right out front of our house, however this place is also know for platypus spotting. Go early in the morning or around 5pm. Also has a great walking track around the area, spot a rare Lumholtz Tree-Kangaroo and visit the unique ‘Lloyd’s Suspension Bridge’.

Windin Falls is located in Wooroonooran National Park, Windin Falls boasts unparalleled views over the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Accessible via the Old Cairns Track, the falls is an approximate 90 minute hike each way. !!Exercise extreme caution and stay back from the edges!! There is a natural infinity pool at the top of the falls that drops deep into the valley below...it worth the hike but is not suited for everyone.

Another beautiful crater lake with a walking track around the lake allows for forest-fringed, secluded views of the lake and excellent opportunities for viewing wildlife. A pair of towering bull kauri pine trees, over 45m tall, is a feature of the park...Not really suited for swimming then go to Lake Eacham instead. There is a lovely teahouse where you can grab a coffee and something nice to snack.

Go see it for yourself, this is such magical place and definitely a must!! The water is cold but you will feel reborn when you come out. TIP: Swim behind the water fall, be careful of the rocks but do yourself a favour and lock up by tilting your head backwards. Thank you! It's a 20 minute drive from the house.

Every fourth Saturday of the month the Yungaburra Markets

Some 250 local growers, producers and artisans gather to display and sell their produce and handiwork on the ‘Bruce Jones Market Grounds’ in the middle of the historic village of Yungaburra (behind the Pitt Stop, service station) on the Atherton Tablelands. Since 1977, the Yungaburra Markets is the main fundraiser for the Yungaburra State School Parents and Citizens Association.
