Recommendations

Below some general recommendations - dont hesitate to ask if you have specific requests for recommendations and I'll try to help as much as possible. For nearby restaurant/café options you will find a number of options only a couple of minutes walk from the house on Østerfarimagsgade. On this street we recommend Emmerys – a small coffee shop/bakery ideal for breakfast, further down the street you have O’s for classic American breakfast/brunch. Just across from Emmerys you will find the local convenience shop that will cover your basic needs and a number of restaurants i.e. Stick N Sushi, Darling, Hønen and Ægget can also be found in Østerfarimagsgade. If you are in the mod for Michelin Star food, there is Clou also located on Østerfarimagsgade. If you take the pedestrian bridge across the lake there is a nice place for break-fast and lunch (Cafe Livingstone). Copenhagen is a great place for foodies and famous for the “New Nordic” kitchen with i.e. Noma and Geranium in the lead but more affordable and family-friendly options exist too. suggest you review the guide from www.60by80.com by one of my friends. Though its targeting a gay-audience their recommendations are up-dated and most relevant for all (in particular on restaurants); www.60by80.com/copenhagen/restaurants/ You have a convenient-store 2 mins walk from the house open from 7 to 9pm all week. Its located on Øster Farimagsgade 20 just across from the Emmerys bakery. For a larger super market there is one 5 mins walk away called Netto also located on Øster Farimagsgade 17 (open until 10pm). Netto is a budget super market. For a nicer (more high end) supermarket I recommend Irma - you have a big one on Oslo Pl. 2 (Østerport Station) where you can also rent bikes. If you are interested in design/furniture shops in Copenhagen I recommend the following: https://www.illumsbolighus.dk/ - A big department store with the best of Scandinavian (and international) furniture and interior design. In the city center. Amagertorv 10, 1160 København http://www.casashop.dk/. Close to Gubi and the other store in central city. Store Regnegade 2, https://hay.dk/en-gb Hay House. Very close by Illums and highly recommended. Østergade 61, 2. 1100 København K. www.gubi.dk Møntergade 19 1140 København K. Very cool stuff in the city center www. stilleben.dk Niels Hemmingsens Gade 3, 1153 København next to Torvehallerne (food court with a very nice selection of food and delicacies). We have several parks nearby i.e. Østre Anlæg is just a few minutes away and offers play grounds and “wild” nature. The park surrounds a museum for modern art (National Gallery of Denmark) http://www.smk.dk/en/which is definitely worth a visit – they also have activities for kids. Also Kongens Haven (Kings Garden) with Rosenborg Castle is walking distance from the house http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/rosenborg-castle-gdk410582 and Bothanical Garden is a few minutes walk from the house. To get a quick overview of the city we recommend you to use the hop-on-hop-off guided bus tours: https://www.redbuses.com/our-tours/copenhagen-hop-hop-off-tour/ and the canal tours on the water front of Copenhagen is great as well: http://www.havnerundfart.dk/canaltours/index.php?page=forside.php You can also rent bikes as a nice way to experience the different boroughs of Copenhagen. Be cautions though if you are not used to riding a bike – travel with care! There a many bike-rental shops around but these two are closest to our house: Bike the City, Gothersgade 157, 1123 København Donkey Republic - 24/7 Bike Rental, Oslo Pl. 6, 2100 København
