Beautiful walk or ride which can be joined just 400 m from our house and follows the river into the centre of Nelson and then to the Haven. Pubs, cafes and restaurants are reached after the 4 km mark. The track is gently undulating over mixed surfaces including grass, rock and soil/ stones. There are benches with viewing spots along the way and plenty of birdlife.

Sightseeing
Beautiful scenery and interesting interpretation panel about the source of Nelson's water. You can ride or walk right up to the dam, which is just 5 km from the house, heading away from the city. Along the way you will see amazing feats of engineering with water pipes scaling the river and mountains. It makes a lovely destination for an easy bike ride along the quiet gravel road, or if you prefer a hill ride then make a loop of it by cycling there via Sharlands.
