The canal is approximately 9 miles long. It is spanned by 2 traffic bridges and a railroad bridge, which is pictured here. This still lowers and raises to allow train crossings. There is a bike trail along both sides of the canal and affords you a magnificent view as well as boats from 10 feet to 1,000 feet.

The Cape Cod Canal provides a 7-mile path perfect for walking, jogging, biking, fishing, or just watching the boats go through the canal. The vertical lift train bridge (only one of a few in the world) goes up and down at least twice a day to allow the train to travel on/off the Cape.

This unique historic bridge is beautiful to watch rise and lower for the trains to pass through. Come enjoy the view and watch the boats go under and the trains go over.
