Want to see Fairy penguins (Little Penguins) but dont want to travel to Phillip Island? When a few will do rather than hundreds head down here at dusk. Please don't use flash photography as it hurts their eyes.

Maybe one of the best kept secrets in St Kilda, is our gorgeous little neighbours –St Kilda’s little penguins. There is a colony that lives at the end of the St Kilda pier. You’ll find these furry little guys coming home at dusk. Head down to St Kilda beach, find the pier and walk to the end. You’ll see the crowds. It is very important to NOT use flash photography, which they don’t like. We are very lucky to have this little bit of nature in our back yard. Definitely worth a visit.

It's great for a different view of St Kilda (from the end of the pier). Also has a lovely cafe and restaurant at the end of the pier, and a little further along, behind the cafe, are a colony of little blue penguins, that can be seen at sunrise and sunset.
