Meat Cove is the most northerly settlement in Nova Scotia and is located in Northern Cape Breton. It's accessed north of Capstick on 8 km of a gravel road. It has a wonderful seafood restaurant at the Meat Cove Campground and Chowder House. The rugged picturesque landscape makes for a beautiful backdrop during a camping trip, or day excursion to explore the area. Meat cove has pristine ocean water sporting 80-foot visibility through the water. The cove makes for a great swimming and snorkeling destination.

Meat Cove is the most northerly settlement in Nova Scotia. The route to this scenic fishing village is incredible with spectacular views of the coastline. The Chowder Hut restaurant is located here, and you can get some great views of the beach and coastline from this elevated location. If you’re feeling peckish, the restaurant serves delicious seafood and if you want to stay around Meat Cove for a bit longer, there is a campsite across from Chowder Hut. Helen Suk from Not Without My Passport also thinks Meat Cove should be on your to-do list. 2 hrs 30 min from Baddeck - “I also highly recommend Meat Cove, a rural fishing community on the northernmost tip of Cape Breton Island. Mountain trail hike. Very steep, not too long a few km forsure. AWESOME views at the top. Not for kids or those lacking good footwear... take your time and you will be glad you did. Trail head is at the bottom of a hill just into an almost 180 degree turn, on your way into meat cove. there's only one road in so hard to miss... there is a little parking lot beside the trail head, just pull up the hill too the left as you approach the corner. Message me and I can drop you a pin via text or somthing like that to help you find it easily.

Spectacular. Named by sailors for the smell of the moose meat being smoked by the handful of settlers. A couple of good seafood places to eat at, and free public Wifi.
