Gerðarsafn is one of those hidden gems outside of Reykjavík. Located in Kópavogur, the museum offers a fresh take on Icelandic art and gives visitors an opportunity to meet and listen to their artists in their fantastic artist talks. It also has a coffee shop and a delightful garden.

Gerðarsafn is an Art Museum only 8 min. walk away. It was opened in 1994 in honor of Gerður Helgadóttur to keep her memory alive. You can visit to experience her artwork amongst other exhibitions going on during the summer. They have nice coffee house on the ground floor where you can have a coffee or lunch.

In Gerðasafn you can find a really nice coffee place called Reykjavík Roasters, and you can also have a cozy walk around the museum :)
