We haven't been able to go all the way into Sian Ka'an unfortunately.... we tried walking in once but it is way longer than we expected! There are a lot of really big potholes, so if you decide to go by bike or car, account for the additional time it will take to get through the mogul road.

A sublime area of natural beauty, Sian Ka'an is home to thousands of species of flora and fauna, which is why the region became a designated Biosphere Reserve in 1986. A year later, Sian Ka'an was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO and it remains the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean. Possibly the most astonishing part of the Yucatan peninsula, it is located 2 hours from Tulum. It is important to book a tour for get to.

To see National park Sin Kaan, the best is to take one of the boat tours with Sian Kaan Community Tours. My favorite is floating where you float through ancient Maya canals. You can choose to continue further in to see manatees and crocodiles. Great also for birdwatching.
