Take a day trip to Gibraltar (England in the Sun), shop on Main street or visit the war caves in the upper rock.
Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain's south coast, 1 hr 5mins away (70kms). It’s dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge. First settled by the Moors in the Middle Ages and later ruled by Spain, the outpost was ceded to the British in 1713. Layers of fortifications include the remains of a 14th-century Moorish Castle and the 18th century Great Siege Tunnels, which were expanded in WWII.

Gibraltar is a well-known touristic attraction in the area. On the rock of Gibraltar, you can see the monkeys in nature, military tunnels, admire the beautiful Europa Point or have a shopping session on Gibraltar main street where you can find cosmetics, alcohol and tobacco at inexpensive price compared to most countries in Europe. It is also the place where you get to cross the Gibraltar airport lanes by foot and get to see airplanes landing very close to you. If you visit Gibraltar, we recommend you park the car in Spain and take a taxi tour from the boarder. The tour includes also the tickets for the attractions and it would save you the issues with driving on small roads and having to watch out for scooters on the street. Whatever you do, remember to take your passports/ ID cards with you as otherwise you cannot pass the border between Gibraltar and Spain. Also remember to check if you require a Visa to enter Gibraltar. Citizens of European Union do not need a Visa.

The tours around the island are really good, seeing the well known monkeys taking food from your hand is lovely. If you like the traditional fish and chips there is a lovely cafe in the square which is brilliant. The Irish town is really good to see as well, and the traditional drinks and food is most welcome.
