Otama is our favourite beach (3.5 ks away). Beautiful white sand, unspoilt. Takes about an hour to walk end to end. Both ends have beautiful pohutakawa trees for shade. Far end is dog friendly all year, off lead but under control.

Incredibly beautiful spot to swim or picnic at. Great for photographers. Amazing squeaky sand!

The most beautiful beach - lined with Pohutukawa trees which will be flowering over Christmas. Crystal clear water and often quiet. Drive from Whitianga north over the hill to Kuaotunu. Go through the village and continue over the Black Jack road to Otama. There is limited shade under pohutakawas to the left - bring an umbrella or shade tent if you can.

Quiet and stunning. A wonderful drive from kuaotunu (10 mins) on a windy road with spectacular views. Shady spots for a beach picnic. Lots of safe swimming for kids in the shallows. Fun swimming in big waves for the adults. Great day out - no shops take some food and drinks with you!
