Millennials love to stand in lines. Go mid-morning on weekdays to avoid long lines. But, the food is well worth it! Riches beyond your wildest dreams: butter-golden pains au chocolat, cappuccinos with ferns drawn in dense foam and croque monsieurs turbo-loaded with ham, two kinds of cheese and béchamel. Don't be dismayed by the inevitable line out the door – it moves fast – but be aware that lolling in Dolores Park is the only possible post-Tartine activity.

Ahhhh Tartine. . . One of the best bakeries in the US is just down the street from you. Giant croissants, elegant tarts, cakes, pies, seasonal bread pudding, and hot open-faced sandwiches served on huge slices of their signature bread. There’s no sign, but the line of people out the door marks the…
Head here on your way to Dolores Park for some of the best pastries in the city. Usually a long line on the weekends (and some weekday mornings). Order the chocolate croissant and morning bun! But really, everything there is delicious.
Famous bakery steps from Dolores Park. Be prepared to wait in line! The morning bun is to die for.
Bread is to DIE for. Forget Boudine, this is the spot to hit. Queues can get ludicrous so get there when it opens or, just down the street Bi-rite sometimes has bread in stock.

“When the weather is nice, you can barely see the grass due to the throngs of people lounging around. Luckily, the park was recently renovated and is big enough that you're bound to find a spot you like. The southwest corner is good for a panoramic view of the city skyline (and usually far enough away from the folks enjoying their herbal refreshments on the northern slope). There's also a nice kid's playground, although it's geared more towards older kids.”
