If you are looking for a fairly short hike with a fantastic view this might be just what you are looking for. The hike is about 1.5 miles each way but it does get fairly steep at parts and there are a good many rocks so be sure to wear good shoes. The view from the top of the fire tower looks both into Virginia and West Virginia. It is a favorite afternoon hike for us. Be sure to take plenty of water.

A beautiful drive plus a short hike. This is a great place to visit on a nice day. I can provide turn-by-turn directions from Harrisonburg.

There isn't much that can beat the view from the top of High Knob Fire Tower. Travel to the top of Shenandoah Mountain and pull off into the parking lot. A well maintained and traveled trail will lead you to the tower. This is a fairly easy hike and will take around 1 1/2 hours each way.
