Beside being great for shelling, Algiers is one of the beaches near Downtown Fort Myers that’s perfect for sunbathing, shelling, and swimming. You can’t say that about just any beach. The beach itself sits squarely on Sanibel’s south (belly) side, so currents are generally mild and the water is always pristine and free of debris. It’s a good spot to find sand dollars. Halfway up Sanibel Island on the Gulf-facing shore, Gulfside City Park is a lnice place to catch some sun and waves. It's not a very crowded spot despite its location between resorts, making this a good choice for those who want a relaxing day at the beach. The park offers a large grassy area in addition to the white-sand shore, and plenty of parking. Park amenities include restrooms, an outdoor shower, picnic tables, and barbecue grills for public use.

Excellent public beach that is clean and quiet. Great shelling and views. Make sure to use the parking meter which is $5/hr and to avoid getting a parking ticket 👍
