This is a fantastic place to go from the "Terminal del norte" a buses terminal that you could take from the metro in Caribe Station. From the terminal, you ask for a bus to Guatapé and ask the driver to drop you off in "La Piedra del Peñol". After this, you could go the the town Guatapé in a tuk-tuk. I suggest you to go in the morning. It takes 2,5H from Medellin by bus.

Of course, everyone know about that rock. We recommend that you visit it before 10am as it tends to ger super busy afterwards, especially so in the weekend. To get there from Casa Dodo, take a mototaxi (tuktuk) from here. It takes about 8 minutes to arrive, then about 20 minutes to climb up the 700+ steps. The effort is well worth it; you will be blown away by the view. Entry fee (2023) is 20000 pesos per person.

El Peñón de Guatapé, Colombia 🇨🇴 Growing up in northern Ecuador (Quito) and having family from Colombia, I always thought that I had visited Colombia sometime during my youth. It wasn’t until I shared pictures of my friends, traveling through Colombia, with my mom that I realized that I had never been to Colombia. So, for a spring break, I went on a trip all over Colombia. My favorite region of Colombia was Medellín, and the most scenic part was Guatapé. El Peñón de Guatapé is a giant stone with stairs that you can climb. There are 675 stairs from the base and the views from the top are breathtaking. This picture is from the top.
