The beach at San Simeon pier is flat and nice for children. There is a lovely place to grab veggie burgers and wine if you pass the entrance to the beach parking and go straight. There you will find the Hearst Winery and you can eat a casual meal while overlooking the ocean and the historic Hearst properties. Lovely architecture!

I haven't tried this yet, but there are miles of trails throughout Cambria if you want to run or walk. They weave throughout various Fiscalini preserves. Fun!
