By far this is the best Indian food I've had in Chicago and I'm so lucky to have it within walking distance of the apartment. It's spicy and delicious. My tip would be to go early because they are always packed. Or order take out and take it home! Note: They are BYOB. There is a liquor store a block from the restaurant so you can pick it up on the way. They open at 4:30pm and are closed on Mondays.

This hip greasy spoon gets you up in the morning. Delicious coffee, wonderful breakfast dishes. Note: they only take cash (they do have an ATM incase you need to pull some out) and they close at 3pm.

Parks & Nature
The 606 Trail is very cool and unique...the city renovated an old train track and turned it into a walking/biking/running path. It's only a 10 minute walk to an entrance at W Bloomingdale Ave & N California Ave from the apartment. The trail is above ground creating this amazing uninterrupted path. There are benches up and down the trail to chill out and people watch as well as watch cars pass by below you on the street.

They have a great menu and your recliner has a table so you can veg out and eat right in your seat.
