This museum is top of the charts and full of great art exhibits. It is also on lovely grounds that you will want to stroll around on for hours.

This museum is AWESOME to take young children to. It has room after room of fun things to do and even learn in a kid centered fun way. They have places for the barely crawling and walking toddlers as well. Well worth the time and money. My grandkids have all been there multiple times and loved it. I would say not a good place for pre-teens or teens though. They have food as well for lunch and snacks.

This is a 1 1/2 hour drive south from Aurora but the Cog Railway takes you to the top of Pikes Peak where Katharine Lee Bates was inspired to write 'America the Beautiful'!! You can see the same breathtaking scenery she did! Colorado Springs is known for Pikes Peak where they have downhill races every year and the Adaman Club sets off fireworks on NY Eve. But drink lots of water if you go up, to avoid nose bleeds and if you have high blood pressure, consult a doctor first. There is an eatery and gift shop on top as well as the commemoration plaque to Katharine Lee Bates. You can get there by car or hike it as well as taking the Cog Railway (which is pricey and only runs seasonally).

You can also take a gondola across the river as well as a ride down the side of the canyon to the river. Lots of places to eat here and shop. Another must-see day trip.

The whole area actually is filled with essentials such as grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants and I would be happy to share them with you.

Parks & Nature
It's Denver's largest park and within it are playgrounds, lakes, birds, ducks, geese, bike and walking trails and benches to just watch nature from. It is right next door to the Denver Museum of Natural History and close by to the Denver Zoo.

It's a large boating/jet skiing lake (motorized as well) to explore, walk, bike, picnic and it has a small swim beach as well. I love going here and riding my bike. Lots of secret spots and fishing spots too.

This park is 5 minutes from my house and had a wonderful , clean indoor pool complete with a very large kids pool and adult pools with swim lanes and a diving section. It also has a mini-water park in the corner for the kiddos. No hot tub though. I provide the tickets for one visit for each guest.

Well known for its amazing huge red rocks, hiking and rock climbing. Entrance is free. You can drive through the park and stop anywhere along the way to walk or take in the views. It has a Native American-themed souvenir store and eatery at the center of the park. It is an hour from my house and could easily be an all day trip as there are other neat places to see in Colorado Springs and Woodland Park as well. They have a famous sunrise Easter Service that attracts hundreds every Easter regardless of the weather.

It has a mini beach that is perfect for children and very shallow with a changing area and concessions and ice cream. A great playground right on the beach, too. My family and I use this place all summer. An all day pass fee per vehicle for $10 is required. It is not overly crowded either as it is out east of Aurora in a more rural spot.

There are two children's play areas too for the little tiny ones and a lazy river for the tired parents and elderly. haha. Get a family 4-pack at King Soopers and it will include pizza and soda for lunch. Take Coke cans for other discounts if you don't need 4 tickets. Check the website for other discounts and weather reports before coming. Opens at 10:00 and closes at 6:00
