Sightseeing
Visit the Santuario Santa Maria delle Armi, an old monastery that is built into the rocks not far from Cerchiara. It is worth seeing both the monastery and the scenic car road up there.

Visit the village itself of Cerchiara. It is a very old and beatiful village. There is is also an interesting bread museum, Museo del Pane, where you get to learn a little about the development of bread through the ages.

Other nice places to visit includes the villages of Nova Siri, Bernalda, Policoro and Pisticci. All those are located in Basilicata but not very far from Roseto. In Bernalda was born the famous film director Francis Ford Coppola, creator of the film "The Godfather".

Another amazing and nice excursion is to go to Cassano all Jonio and visit the stalactite caves, the Grotte di San Angelo. There is a huge cave where there are guided tours. Well worth a visit!

Food Scene
Another place to visit is Oriolo not at all far from Roseto. Have your lunch there at the roof terrace of La Tavernetta.

If you want to have a swim in the sea in Roseto, just go down to our favourite place Beach Club Tamarix. There are sunchairs and umbrellas to rent and there is also a nice bar and restaurant. They have also boats for rent. Greet Vizenzo from us and you might get even better service. Tamarix is located at the end of the beach promenade. Wonderful is also to take a swim just below the castle!

Up in the old town there are a few good restaurants that are worth visiting. One is called La Nicchia and that restaurant you can see down to the right from our terrace. Very good food and friendly staff!

Another very good restaurant with low prices and fantastic food and service is the restaurant Due Scogli located between Montegiordano and Rocca Imperiale. The restaurant is visible from the main road SS 106 but it is located along the old road, so you will have to run off the SS 106 and find your way to the restaurant.

A very nice masseria with good food and a fantastic view is Masseria Capoliscio nearby the old town of Roseto. Spend your Sunday lunch there!

One can also have a drink or a dinner at the castle, Castello di Roseto Capo Spulico. An ancient and beautiful castle with a long history. At the top of the castle tower you can rent a suite with a fantastic view. Often wedding couples stay overnight there.

Moreover, farmers with their small lorries usually visit the old town to sell their fruits and vegetables. More grocery stores you will find along SS 106 or nearby the beach promenade. You will also have a post office and a Cash machine. Along the beach promenade there is also a shop for fresh fish from the local fishermen, and on the promenade there is often a local market where you can buy almost everything.
