Food Scene

This is one of my favorite brunch spots! The food is a combination of Italian and Cuban. Be sure to ask for a seat outside since it is located right on a canal. This isn't on the Nautical Mile, but it is definitely walking distance from our home. -If you stay with us on a Saturday or Sunday, they have brunch specials for $24.95 between 11:45AM-3:00PM. This includes an appetizer (cuban chicken eggrolls are amazing!), brunch item, and 2 hours of unlimited mimosas, sangria, or bloody marys! Definitely a great deal. -If you stay with us during the week, they also offer a special lunch prix fixe menu from 12pm-4pm for $15.95 and this includes an appetizer, entree, and a glass of wine, beer, soda, or sangria. I know they also have a prix fixe dinner menu and tons of other specials so be sure to check them out.

Jeremy's is right on the Nautical Mile. It is definitely not the fanciest place, but if you want a quick cheap meal this is the place to go. Compared to most restaurants on the Mile, this seems to be the cheapest. It's mostly bar food that's pretty good! Don't be skeptical from the outside just walk on in and order your food at the bar and they will bring it to your table. They also have a outdoor deck eating area that's on the canal! Cheaper drinks as well*

This restaurant is right at the beginning of the Mile! This is the newest entry and most upscale restaurant on the Nautical Mile dining scene. Menu offerings range from burgers and fries to award winning steak, slow roasted prime rib and seared ahi yellow fin tuna. You can enjoy your meal from a second story balcony with a clear view right down the canal or the large outdoor dining area. E. B. Elliot’s is a classy place and of course, not cheap.

This is a restaurant on the Nautical Mile, but it is on the side opposite to the canal..so no great view. The big "draw" is they have an excellent early bird special (soup/salad, entree, dessert for price of the entree). This is indoor seating only

Rachel's provides more of an upscale experience on the Nautical Mile which features bars and restaurants of eclectic ambiances and social scenes. The food and service are both decent. The main draw of Rachel's is dining on the waterfront, but this premium is certainly factored into the prices.

Situated just between Rachel’s and Bracco’s in the space formerly occupied by Bonito Hibachi and Sushi, Nawlins will resemble Bourbon Street’s side-by-side voodoo vendors and bars from the street, complete with Spanish-era landmark tiling. On the canal side, an enormous riverboat wheel will hail boaters who can dock and simply walk up to the restaurant’s rear entrance.

Parks & Nature

This beach is so close by and is only a 11 minute car ride. World famous Jones Beach State Park, home of 6.5 miles of beautiful white-sand beach on the Atlantic Ocean, is made up of more than 2,400-acres of maritime environment on the south shore of Long Island. Among the 6 million visitors to the park each year, families enjoy their own piece of the beach for a day, with many returning dozens of times through the summer. Designed on the theme of an ocean liner, Jones Beach offers many activities to those who visit the park. They swim in the ocean, stroll the boardwalk, fish, visit an historic exhibit, get a bite to eat at one of the many concession stands, play miniature golf, shuffleboard and basketball, attend concerts at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater or learn about the marine environment at the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center . Other activities that take place in the park include pool swimming, sunbathing, bicycling, surfing, and visiting the playgrounds. **Some helpful tips** Today, parking fields 3, 4 and 5 are connected to the beachfront by tunnels under Ocean Parkway, providing easy access to the thousands of people who arrive daily. Parking fields 2 and 6 are Oceanfront parking areas with accessible parking. Mobility mats over the sand down to the high tide line are located at field 6 and the Central Mall. At field 10, fishing piers and a fully equipped bait and tackle shop enable fishing and crabbing until sunset. The regional Night Fishing Permit is required after sunset. The park closes at midnight during the summer months with the beachfront closing at sunset. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty. Surfing, stand-up paddle-boarding, and wind surfing are allowed at several locations along the beachfront. Kayaks and sailboards can be put in at field 10 or the boat basin along the north shore of Jones Beach. The boat basin on the west end of the park allows boaters day use of the park throughout the boating season.

Another boat! This is a more upscale boat that the Miss Freeport V and of course that's reflected in the price. This boat has 3 levels. One for dining, one for the bar, and one for dancing. I've been on boats like this and they are very nice. 85 Woodcleft Avenue Freeport, NY 11520 1-516-378-0555

As the name suggests Captain Lou has more than one boat at your disposal and offers both fishing trips and dinner/party cruises. Size, luxury, and services offered vary from boat to boat.

Drinks & Nightlife

This is all the way at the end of the mile on your left. This is a fun party spot to hang out. You can either spend the day here for happy hour, or come late night when its a lot louder, or both! Part of it is a sandy patio so you can kick your shoes right off! They have a raw bar and a basic American menu. Music and a dance floor attracts all age groups. Although all ages go here, it sometimes seems Tropix attracts a younger age group in 20s/30s.

This is a fun hangout! Bikerish, but friendly Otto’s offers indoor and outdoor dining and decent food. The outdoor area has two bars and a very small stage for the band. There’s even a dance floor. If you’re looking for nightlife give Otto’s a try.

So you can go here for lunch/ dinner. Hudsons also has a bar area and live music! Be sure to check out their website to see when they will have live music. This is not waterside. This draws in a nice crowd usually people over 30! :)
