Set in a walled garden, this cafe is a pleasant spot to linger. Grab the Scrabble or a newspaper and order up a salad, lucuma milkshake with fruit from the garden tree, tea served in a ceramic pot or organic coffee. Breakfast includes whole-grain breads. Sweets, like carrot cake, are especially good. Free wi-fi and both indoor seating and chairs and tables in a quiet garden. There's a second Bodega Verde in Av. El Sol, on a building's ground floor

Located at he back of the house, in a traditional Barranco style house that was once the summer residence of a wealthy Lima family. The house has been restored, giving it a modern feel with traditional touches. A place to share food in a casual, vibrant atmosphere. Tables are set with old-school plates and dishes are served in large old-fashioned enamel bowls or dishes. Food is served to share and trust us when we say portions are LARGE. Pick a few dishes to share and don’t make the mistake of ordering a main just for yourself. (If you absolutely don’t want to share, my advice is to order a half portion.) Price: Starters from S/.15 (Approx. US$5). Mains from S/.40 (Approx. US$13.35).

Serves anticuchos (beef skewers). They are closed on Sundays and they don't serve alcohol since it's a Christian restaurant just in case you're looking for a place with alcoholic beverages. Place to grab a quick bite. There are two restaurants from the same owner in the neighborhood, both 1.5-2 blocks from home. From the balcony on the upper level of the one at the end of the Bridge of Sighs there's a great view of the Ermita church and the bridge.

a bodega bar that has been serving drinks and food to locals for over 70 years. As overused as this term is, old-school really is the best way to describe this place and its rustic decor. With bottles of piscos and other liqueurs lining the walls on both sides, alongside a few early 20th century antiques, you get the sense little has changed here over the years.

This place has recently turned 20 years old, and the owner callS it "a cultural bar" because they schedule concerts, parties, cultural events, plays, stand-up comedy shows, etc. It is located in the middle of Barranco nightlife, pretty close to one of the Metropolitano bus stations, and in a large and traditional manor house turned into a bar and cultural center. The walls are covered with art from young local artists: there's beers, wines, and lots of cocktails, including the local star, pisco-sour and other pisco-based drinks. There's also some appetizers and sandwiches to go with.

Arts & Culture

Avenida Pedro de Osma 141: Set in a gorgeous, historic home, this museum displays the collection of the philanthropist Don Pedro de Osma. For most of his life, until his death in 1967, he collected art made in Peru during the fifteenth through the eighteenth centuries, objects such as: paintings, sculptures, altar decorations, silverwork, sculptures in Huamanga stone, and furniture – originating from diverse centers of traditional Andean artistic creation – especially Cusco and Ayacucho. The home itself is as much an attraction as the collection; finished in 1906, it’s an elegant and eclectic piece of architecture.
