Its interior was re-decorated in the Baroque style by Mattia Preti and other famous artists of that time. The breathtaking interior of the church is considered as one of the finest examples of high Baroque architecture in Europe. Not to be missed The Beheading of St John the Baptist (1608) which is considered as one of Caravaggio's masterpieces.
