This no-nonsense workshop turns out lovely handwoven textiles. The curtains upstairs in our house were all purchased here. You can find their textiles at crafts shops in all tourist locations in Sardinia but you'll find them here at a fraction of the cost. They will make to order: Anticipate fabrication time and shipping costs, but I have successfully custom ordered from them and they do a fine job.

Parks & Nature

Known as the "Tahiti of Europe," Cala Brandinchi is an arc of soft white sand and crystalline, calm water. Perfect for young children, the water is very shallow at least 50 meters out from the shore. Tip: In peak summer season, arrive early to get a good parking space (€2 or €2.50 / hour depending on the dates) and a spot on the sand for your towel!

The main beach here is very pleasant. But a walk carrying your beach gear past the guardpost of the private residential community (pedestrians can enter; cars must be left at the car park before you get to the main beach) gives you access to a series of enchanting "private" coves. Our favorite is found down the second set of stairs to the beach.

A gorgeous granite medieval village perched on a hillside, Aggius, with its narrow cobblestone lanes, has a lot to offer. There is a small ethnographic museum and another small museum dedicated to the bandits who used to hide out in the surrounding boulder-strewn hills. There are also the weaving workshops of Laboratorio Cannas and L'Albero Padru of Gabriella Lutzu (who wove the wall hanging in our living room). Drive up for lunch and a walk around the village. Beyond the village is the Valle della Luna, lush farm country strewn with huge boulders!
