Just 5 mins walk from the house this park was voted the UK's best park in the 2016 Fields in Trust award.
58 hectares of managed park land with rangers. Walking paths and trails, green and wooded spaces, kids' playgrounds, a boating pond and cafe plus a waterfall and fascinating geology dating back 325 million years.

Beautiful country park with a stately home and the Burrell Art Collection.
The park itself offers loads to do including Mountain Bike Trails. It's a great place for a walk or run too and has plenty of natural pasture as well as trails. There's even Highland Cattle roaming about, though they're thankfully fenced in or on the other side of the White Cart Water.

The park itself offers loads to do including Mountain Bike Trails. It's a great place for a walk or run too and has plenty of natural pasture as well as trails. There's even Highland Cattle roaming about, though they're thankfully fenced in or on the other side of the White Cart Water.
Botanical Gardens and park at the top of Byres Road in the city's west end.
Loads to do in this area and this is also free.

Private art collection in Pollock Country Park. Currently being refurbished and slated to reopen in 2020.
I love going here on Saturday mornings in the winter and just taking it all in.
There's a Cafe too and a great kids play park just outside.

Not really a museum, but a stately home in beautiful grounds.
It's a National Trust of Scotland property so there's a donation or fee required to view the rooms, but a good part of the house is open to just walk around and there's a lovely cafe set in the old kitchens with the largest cooking range I have ever seen.
Walking round the gardens is lovely too and there's a small stables housing a couple of beautifully placid but striking working horses which the kids can see. There's a stream running alongside which you can paddle or swim in if the weather's nice or your just brave.

A nice part of the city to just bimble about. Has some of my favourite eateries and resting spots. Cafe Gandolfi is resplendent in its seating and tables hewn from huge trees and Tinderbox does the best coffee and cakes I've tried so far in Glasgow and beyond.

Take a stroll off the main Byres Road though and behold some of the grand architecture on show in the squares and circuses. There are also some great cafes and venues in some of the back streets. I find some scenes reminiscent of parts of New York like Alphabet City and West Village.
Also close to Oran Mor and other cultural and music venues.
