Neighbourhoods

A beautiful place for relaxing, a valley that is so peaceful and quiet and yet only 15 minutes away from Plymouth over the Tamar Bridge (Toll Bridge charges are applicable when you are leaving Cornwall). The River Lynher runs through here and attracts a large number of birds and animals. Ideally placed to explore both Cornwall and Devon as it is on the border. You can easily (with transport) explore Bodmin Moor in Cornwall and Dartmoor in Devon. A short drive from historic houses, beaches, hills with far reaching views, Film sites for various TV programmes and films, Plymouth Hoe and historic Tavistock.

Beaches to visit

Beautiful sandy beach although it can be a bit of a walk to the sea when the tide is out. An icecream van usually goes around the beach so you can keep your cook with a delicious Cornish icecream. It is a great beach for surfing, Stand Up Paddleboarding or kayaking and usually has lifeguards during the peak months. Lessons can be booked for all levels https://www.harlynsurfschool.co.uk/ https://www.visitcornwall.com/beaches/lifeguards-seasonal/north-coast/padstow/harlyn-bay-beach

Seaton beach is a great beach for everyone and their dogs. There is a large carpark plus a smaller one and some spaces by the beach wall. There are a couple of pubs and also a cafe on the beach. Inland from the carpark there is a lovely walk along the river that also has exercise places along the walk although it can be wet and muddy after a lot of rain. The beach is mainly shingle, sometimes you can see dolphins in the distance. Sometimes there are surfing lessons available on the beach. There is a lovely walk along the beach to Downderry where there is another pub (up lots of steps). Make sure the tide doesn't cut you off if you walk there. http://www.cornwallbeachguide.co.uk/secornwall/seaton/seaton.htm

Cornwall

The website visitcornwall .com , things to do, is the best website to find out what is on locally.
If you like to pain and draw a visit to St Ives is a must. It is probably a good idea to go by train from Saltash as parking can be difficult at St Ives. The train stops right opposite one of the beautiful sandy beaches and it is only a short walk into the cobbled meandering streets and lanes of the town where you will find many food places, art galleries including the Tate and craft shops. You may also spot seals and dolphins or perhaps even a basking shark. Please be aware of the seagulls they are a huge nuisance here if you are eating outside / on the beach and there are plenty of signs requesting that you do not feed them. www. stives-cornwall . co. uk
