Ushongo Bay is a tropical paradise. Enjoy safe swimming all year round in a sandy bay fringed with coconut trees. Ushongo is situated 15 km from the old Arab town of Pangani. Ushongo is touristically largely undeveloped (unlike neighbouring Mombasa, which is a mass tourism destination). There are no traffic noises, no souvenir shops, no hawkers, water scooters or other disturbances. Typically there are no more than 20-50 tourists in the Ushongo area (three bays, approx. 10 km). The usual movements to be seen are villagers on bicycles on the beach and traditional fishing boats crossing the bay. Swimming is possible year-round at high and low tide, ideal for children. Endless beach walks, snorkelling/diving in nearby marine park.
Ushongo has great potential for Windsurfing, Sailing, Kite-Surfing and Diving. There is a school/rental stations in walking distance. But since tourism has not developed yet there are very few water sport activists to be seen on the water.
