Sightseeing

Walking up the green hills of the Montjuic hill is a pleasant mix of nature and a relaxed atmosphere right next to the Poble Sec neighborhood and the busier city life. If you start your walk at Plaza España, you’ll find beautiful fountains, small parks and great museums (Joan Miró, MNAC) on the way. You can also take the Funicular up to Montjuic to have a bird’s eye perspective on the harbor and the city.

The church on the top of the mountain that lights up during the evening. You have probably already noticed it walking through the city, and going there up close is definitely worth it, as it hosts great mosaic paintings and tile art. A direct bus on the far corner next to the iPhone Apple store is bringing you there.

Neighborhoods

Gracia is a neighborhood full of specialty shops and small charming squares where people are eating and discussing life outside until late every day. Don’t miss the Plaza del Sol, where young people gather every night sitting on the floor to relax and have a beer. Try a few local Vermut bars, this is the Catalan self-made and popular drink that they drink with an olive in it, for example at La Vermu at C/ de Sant Domenec 15. If you’re looking for a quiet, green hidden place that almost seems surreal for where it is, check out the Okinumi shop on C/ d’Asturies and walk to the back. You’ll find an amazing, green terrace with plants and a great atmosphere to read a book or have a coffee. Make sure to also walk on C/ Verdi and Torrent de L’Olla to discover many local food and clothing shops.
