Sightseeing

Just under 20 minutes by car, a generally uncrowded and beautiful short hike that’s suitable for older children and families. There are several cascading falls as you progress down the valley. Give yourself a whole morning or afternoon for this short trip, approx 3hrs including drive should be sufficient. It’s a relatively easy hike with steps, but isn’t suitable for those who have mobility issues and shouldn’t be visited after or during heavy rain as the path gets muddy and dangerous.

The most prominent landmark in the district and most popular sightseeing spot, with panoramic views of the city and coast. A challenging but achievable hike for the unfit and a fun walk for the fit, the summit track takes around half an hour to climb and is safe and well maintained. There is also a base track which passes around the perimeter and is fairly flat and easy and very beautiful especially at sunset. The summit track that follows stairs is easier as it isn’t as slippery as the gravel track but is steeper and quicker.
